When is the best times to buy a house in the UK
11 years worth of house buying data from the Office for National Statistics to work out when you should be looking to buy property across the country.
Liverpool
In Liverpool, the most houses were sold during the autumn in 2017-18, with 2,129 residential properties sold between September and November - compared to 2,057 between June and August.
Autumn has been the most popular time to sell houses in the city for four of the last 11 years, as has the summer.
Meanwhile, spring has only been the most popular twice, and winter just once.
Birmingham
In 2017-18, 3,051 residential properties were sold in Birmingham in March, April and May, compared to 3,941 houses between June and August.
Summer has been the most popular time of year for house buying in the city by far for the last decade, followed by autumn.
Meanwhile, spring has only come out on top in two of the last 11 years, while winter has never been the favourite.
Nottingham
A total of 975 residential properties were sold in Nottingham in March, April and May of 2017-18, compared to 1,198 houses in June to August.
However, in general it was more common for autumn to see the most house sales - this was the case in five of the last 11 years, while summer was the most popular four times.
Bristol
In the last year, 1,869 residential properties were sold in Bristol during the spring, compared to 2,251 houses in the summer.
Summer has been the most common season for house buying in the city in eight of the last 11 years.
Autumn has been more popular on just two occasions, and spring only once.
Stoke
In 2017-18, 1,057 residential properties were sold in Stoke in March, April and May, compared to 1,131 houses in June to August.
It was the most common season for house buying in the city for five of the last 11 years. Autumn was for four, and spring just two.
Derby
In the last year, autumn saw more properties sold in Derby than summer, with 1,174 residential properties sold between September and November, compared to 1,126 houses in June to August.
However, historically it has been more common for summer to be the most popular season - in five of the last 11 years, that has been the case.
Autumn has only been the most popular season four times, and spring twice.

In Coventry, 1,149 residential properties were sold in March, April and May of 2017-18, compared to 1,374 houses in June to August.
Summer has come out on top for house buying in the city in eight of the last 11 years. Autumn has seen more sales on just two occasions, and spring on one.
Bath
Autumn saw more properties sold in Bath and North East Somerset than summer in the last year.
A total of 891 residential properties sold between September and November, compared to 817 houses in June to August.
However, historically it has been more common for summer to be the most popular season - in six of the last 11 years, that has been the case, compared to four for autumn and one for spring.
Gloucestershire
In 2017-18, 667 residential properties were sold in Gloucester between September and November, compared to 646 houses in June to August.
It was more common for summer to be the most popular season for property sales, however - this happened on six occasions, compared to the four times that autumn was the most popular.
Leicester
In the last year, 854 residential properties were sold in Leicester in March, April and May, compared to 1,020 houses between June and August.
Summer has been the most popular time of year for house buying in the city by far for the last decade.
Meanwhile, both autumn and spring have come out on top in two of the last 11 years, while winter has only been the favourite once.
